Independent Editorial Assessment

Our Verdict

New phones no longer come with a charger in the box, and this is the inexpensive fix. The Philips DLP5312 is a single-port 30W USB-C charger with a UK/Irish 3-pin plug, which is enough to charge any current iPhone quickly, along with Android phones, earbuds and e-readers. Philips does not list PPS support, so Samsung’s Super Fast Charging may not engage and a Galaxy will charge at its standard fast rate instead. It is also a sensible plug for recharging a 10,000mAh power bank. It uses GaN parts to stay compact and lists protection against overcharging, overheating and short circuits. There is only one port and no cable in the box, so pair it with a USB-C cable, and it will not keep up with a laptop under load. For a bedside or a second charger for the office, it does the job for very little money.
