How to Find Items Sold and Dispatched by Amazon.ie

A practical guide to checking who really sells and ships an Amazon.ie listing, filtering searches to Amazon.ie's own stock, and spotting import fees and the wrong plug before you pay.

The short answer

On any Amazon.ie product page, look at the box beside the Add to basket button. If it says Dispatches from: Amazon and Sold by: Amazon.ie (sometimes shown simply as Amazon), you are buying from Amazon's own Irish operation, with the item shipped from within the EU and no import VAT or customs to pay on arrival. To see only that stock in search results, add the seller filter rh=p_6:A2QHQAREJ10JUZ to an Amazon.ie search URL. The search box on ÉireStop applies that filter for you automatically.

Step by step: checking a product page

  1. Open the product page on Amazon.ie — check the address bar says amazon.ie, not amazon.co.uk or amazon.com.
  2. Find the buy box. On a computer it sits on the right of the page beside the price; on the app and mobile site it is below the price, near the Add to basket button.
  3. Read the “Dispatches from” line. This tells you who ships the parcel. “Amazon” means it comes from an Amazon warehouse.
  4. Read the “Sold by” line. This tells you who you are buying from. You want Amazon.ie (or Amazon). Any other name is a third-party seller.
  5. Check the delivery estimate. A quick estimate with a Prime badge is a good sign the item is held in Ireland or nearby. An estimate of a week or more, especially from a third-party seller, often means it is shipping from further away.
  6. Look at “Other sellers on Amazon”. Some listings have several offers. If the buy box shows a third-party seller, Amazon.ie's own offer may be listed there, sometimes at a slightly different price.
  7. Check the final checkout screen. Before you place the order, look for any line marked import fees, import charges or customs. On an item sold and dispatched by Amazon.ie, there should be none.

What the seller combinations mean

Dispatches fromSold byWhat it means
AmazonAmazon.ieAmazon's own stock. Amazon is the seller and ships it. This is what every ÉireStop listing is.
AmazonAnother companyFulfilled by Amazon (FBA). A third-party seller stores stock in Amazon warehouses. Amazon handles delivery and usually returns, but the other company is the seller.
Another companyAnother companySeller-fulfilled. The seller ships it themselves, possibly from the UK or outside the EU. Delivery times, returns and import charges depend on the seller.

Filtering search results to Amazon.ie's own stock

Amazon's search pages accept refinements in the URL. The seller refinement is called p_6, and Amazon.ie's own merchant ID is A2QHQAREJ10JUZ. Adding the two together limits results to items Amazon.ie sells itself.

  1. Search for something on Amazon.ie as normal, for example “air fryer”.
  2. Look at the address bar. You will see something like amazon.ie/s?k=air+fryer.
  3. Add &rh=p_6:A2QHQAREJ10JUZ to the end of the address, so it reads amazon.ie/s?k=air+fryer&rh=p_6:A2QHQAREJ10JUZ, and press Enter. (Your browser may show the colon as %3A; that is the same thing.)
  4. The results now only include offers sold by Amazon.ie. Bookmark the page if you search the same category often.

Some search pages also show a Seller option in the filters on the left (or under Filters on mobile) where you can tick Amazon.ie. It does not appear on every search, which is why the URL method is handy.

Spotting import fees before you pay

Import charges only arise when an item ships from outside the EU, which on Amazon.ie means a third-party seller based in the UK or further afield. Signs to watch for:

  • An Import Fees Deposit or Import Charges line on the product page or at checkout.
  • A seller name you do not recognise with a long delivery estimate. Click the seller name to see their business address on the seller profile.
  • A price noticeably lower than other offers on the same listing, which can be explained by VAT and customs being collected later.

If charges are not collected at checkout, the carrier will ask for VAT, any customs charge and an administration fee before delivering. Our customs explainer has worked examples, and the customs calculator estimates the total.

Checking the plug type

Ireland uses the three-pin Type G plug (BS 1363), the same as the UK. Much of the rest of Europe uses two-pin plugs, and EU-wide listings occasionally ship continental versions. For anything that goes into a wall socket:

  1. Read the product title and look for “UK plug”, “3-pin” or “Type G”.
  2. Check the technical details table for a plug or power-plug field.
  3. Look at the product images for three rectangular pins rather than two round ones.
  4. If a listing has several variants, make sure the one selected is the UK/Irish plug version.

Avoid running high-power appliances such as kettles, heaters or air fryers through a travel adaptor; a proper fused three-pin plug is the safer option.

Third-party sellers using Amazon fulfilment

“Dispatches from Amazon, Sold by [another company]” is not necessarily a problem. Fulfilled by Amazon items ship from Amazon warehouses and usually come with Amazon's delivery and returns process. But the seller, not Amazon, is the business you contracted with, so if something goes wrong later — a fault after a few months, for example — it is that seller who is responsible under consumer law, and they may be based outside Ireland.

Remember too that listings change. The buy box can switch from Amazon.ie to another seller when Amazon.ie runs out of stock, so check the “Sold by” line every time, even on an item you have bought before. Frequently asked questions

How do I know if something is sold by Amazon.ie?

Look at the buy box beside the Add to basket button on the product page. If “Sold by” says Amazon.ie (or Amazon) and “Dispatches from” says Amazon, Amazon's Irish operation is the seller. Any other name under “Sold by” is a third-party seller, even if Amazon ships the item.

What is the Amazon.ie seller ID?

Amazon.ie's own merchant ID is A2QHQAREJ10JUZ. You can add it to an Amazon.ie search address as &rh=p_6:A2QHQAREJ10JUZ to show only items sold by Amazon.ie. The search box on ÉireStop applies this filter automatically.

Can I get customs charges on Amazon.ie?

Not on items sold and dispatched by Amazon.ie, which ship from within the EU. You can on Amazon.ie listings sold by third-party sellers based in the UK or outside the EU. Check for an Import Fees Deposit or Import Charges line at checkout, and look at the seller's business address on their profile page.

Is “Fulfilled by Amazon” the same as sold by Amazon?

No. Fulfilled by Amazon means a third-party seller keeps stock in Amazon's warehouses and Amazon delivers it. You usually get Amazon's delivery speed and returns process, but the third-party seller is the business you bought from and is responsible for the goods under consumer law.

Why does the seller change on a listing I bookmarked?

Amazon picks which offer appears in the buy box based on price, stock and delivery. When Amazon.ie sells out or another seller undercuts it, the buy box can switch to that seller. Check “Other sellers on Amazon” to see whether Amazon.ie still has an offer on the page.
