Independent Editorial Assessment

Our Verdict

PNY’s 256GB microSD Express card does the same job as the SanDisk: it adds 256GB of storage the Switch 2 can install games to, doubling the console’s built-in space. PNY quotes up to 890MB/s read and 750MB/s write, but as with any microSD Express card those figures depend on the reader, and inside the console the Switch 2 sets the pace, so do not pay extra for a higher headline number. It is backwards compatible with ordinary UHS-I and UHS-II devices, so it can move on to a handheld PC or camera later. Buy whichever of the two 256GB cards is cheaper on the day.
