Our Verdict

Cluedo Junior is a gentle first detective game for children of four to six. On the Level 1 side everyone works together, searching for picture clues to work out which item has gone missing and which character put it in their backpack by mistake, so nobody loses, which matters a lot to a four-year-old. Flip the board for Level 2, a competitive Science Lab Mystery where players race to solve who set off the volcano, what they used and where. Two levels give it a longer life than most pre-school games, and up to six can play, which helps when cousins are visiting. There are small parts, so keep it away from toddlers. Amazon’s listing says the instructions may not be in English, so check the box when it arrives. Children of seven and up will soon want the full Cluedo.
