Independent Editorial Assessment

Our Verdict

The SLX Hybrid Mini is the cheapest launch monitor we found sold and dispatched by Amazon.ie, and it is best thought of as a speed and strike trainer rather than a simulator. The listing says it is made by Swing Logic and sold under the Second Chance name, and that it reports ball speed, club head speed, smash factor and distance, connects by Bluetooth to an app that records swing video, and doubles as a golf GPS device. The listing is thin on technical detail: it does not explain how the unit measures, or whether it reads launch angle or spin. So treat its distances as estimates, and use it for what speed-based units do well, which is tracking club head speed and how well you are striking the ball (smash factor) from session to session. It is small enough to live in the bag for range and practice-ground sessions. Check that the app supports your phone before you buy, and keep the packaging in case it does not suit.
