Independent Editorial Assessment

Our Verdict

The Bonsai Tree is one of the longest-running Botanicals sets, and it remains a neat gift for a desk, a small apartment or someone who kills real plants. The 878 pieces build a bonsai in a rectangular brick-built pot on a stand styled like wooden slats, and you get two sets of foliage, green leaves or pink cherry blossoms made from tiny frog pieces, so the display can change with the seasons. Unlike the bouquets it needs no vase, so it is complete out of the box. Building all those leaves is repetitive in places, which some people find relaxing and others find a chore, and swapping the foliage means taking it apart and rebuilding that section.
