Our Verdict

For the adult F1 fan, this recreates the car Ayrton Senna drove to his first world title, as a display model rather than a toy. The 693-piece build includes working steering, push-rod suspension, an adjustable rear wing, slick tyres, a gear shift and a detailed V6 turbo engine under the bodywork, and it comes with a stand that lists the car’s statistics. A Senna minifigure stands on a small podium with a photo and one of his quotes. It is a satisfying build of a couple of evenings, and a good size for a desk or shelf. If the person you are buying for follows today’s grid more than the 1980s, LEGO’s newer Icons F1 cars and the Speed Champions range are worth a look too.
