Why We Recommend This

Real mechanisms and a sharp design in a mid-priced Technic set, a good bridge from children’s LEGO to the adult car models.

Independent Editorial Assessment

Our Verdict

This is a good first "proper" Technic set. Technic swaps studded bricks for beams, pins and gears, and the 801-piece Koenigsegg teaches how a car works as it goes together: builders assemble the V8 engine and the differential, then check that the steering turns the front wheels. The party piece is the dihedral doors, which swing out and rotate 90 degrees as on the real hypercar. It takes longer than most children’s sets, it looks the part on a bedroom shelf, and it costs much less than the big 1:8 Technic supercars. Pin-heavy Technic building can frustrate a child who has only done City sets, so it suits a patient builder of ten or older.
