Why We Recommend This

A mid-sized City set with a lot of play inside the model, at an age when children can build it largely on their own.

Independent Editorial Assessment

Our Verdict

LEGO City is where most six-to-eight-year-olds start following a full instruction booklet, and a rescue vehicle that opens up for play is a safe bet. This 2025 air ambulance has 403 pieces: the boarding stairs fold down and the fuselage opens to show the cockpit, medical screens, a workstation and a fold-out lab, so it gets played with after it is built rather than sitting on a shelf. A snow scooter, stretcher, medical bag and a small airport scene with a windsock add to the story. It sits in the mid-price band for City sets, which makes it a sensible main present from Santy or a generous gift from a godparent.
