Kris Kindle in Ireland, and how to use this guide
Kris Kindle is what most of Ireland calls Secret Santa: everyone draws a name, buys one gift within an agreed limit, and the giver stays anonymous unless they own up. The name comes from Christkindl, the "Christ Child" who brings presents in German-speaking countries. It runs in offices, among groups of friends and, more and more, in families with lots of adults who would rather buy one decent present than a dozen small ones.
This guide is sorted into three budgets: under €20, under €30 and under €50. Products from our catalogue sit in a band according to their typical Amazon.ie price when we checked. Prices move, especially around Black Friday, so a product may land just above or below its band on the day you buy; where a product card shows a price, it also shows when that price was checked. Smaller ideas that aren’t in our catalogue are search links filtered to Amazon.ie stock. For bigger budgets, see our Christmas gift guide, or browse every guide in Seasonal & Gifts.
Set the limit (and the rules) before anyone buys
Most Kris Kindle awkwardness comes from a vague budget. Agree one number, say whether it is a maximum or a target, and put it in writing in the group chat or email so nobody has to guess. The bands below are common starting points, not rules.
| Group | Common limit | What tends to work | What to avoid |
|---|---|---|---|
| Office or work team | €10–€20 | Desk, coffee and cold-weather comforts, quick card games | Edgy joke gifts, alcohol unless you know they drink, anything personal |
| Group of friends | €20–€30 | Small tech, a game for the next night in, something for a hobby | Gifts that create work, such as a plant for someone who travels a lot |
| Family (adults) | €30–€50 | Headphones, speakers, trackers, grooming, outdoor gear | Clothes without knowing sizes, duplicates of things they already own |
| Mixed ages (cousins, in-laws) | €20–€30 | Games, speakers, jigsaws | Age-specific items when you drew a name you don’t know well |
- One number, not a range. "Around €20" becomes €12 for one person and €35 for the next, and someone ends up embarrassed.
- Draw names early. Late November leaves time for delivery, a swap if something arrives damaged, and the chance of a Black Friday price.
- Allow a three-word wish list. "Coffee, walking, no candles" is enough to steer the person who drew your name.
- Decide on joke gifts up front. If the group wants funny presents, say so. Otherwise, default to something useful.
- Think about food and drink. Not everyone drinks, and allergies and dietary choices are common. If in doubt, leave consumables out.
- Remote or hybrid team? Use a free online name-drawing tool so nobody draws themselves, and let the organiser hold the delivery addresses rather than passing them round.

Kris Kindle gifts under €20
Under €20 is the most common office limit, and it is where small, useful things beat novelty every time. Most of our catalogue sits above €20, and the few products that don’t are mainly console accessories (see the gamer tips further down), so the ideas below are Amazon.ie searches filtered to Amazon.ie stock. Search results include bigger and dearer versions, so check the price, and check that the listing still says Sold by Amazon.ie, before you add one to your basket.

Bananagrams
A fast word game in a zip-up banana pouch. It plays in a few minutes, so it gets used at lunch breaks and family gatherings rather than once.
- Search Amazon.ie
Dobble
A spot-the-match card game in a small round tin. Children and adults play on equal terms, which makes it a safe pick for a name you don’t know well.

Glocusent neck reading light
A rechargeable LED light worn around the neck, for reading in bed or knitting on dark evenings without lighting up the whole room.

Hot water bottle with a knitted cover
Not glamorous, but very welcome in a cold house or a draughty office. Look for BS 1970 on the listing: it is the British safety standard for hot water bottles.

Anker Nano 20W USB-C charger
A small USB-C wall plug that charges a recent phone faster than an old 5W cube. Choose the UK/Irish 3-pin version, not the EU two-pin.

SanDisk Ultra Flair 128GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive – Up to 150MB/s, Metal Casing (Silver/Black)
Best for: Students, office colleagues, anyone who prints CVs, photos or boarding passes
Everyone needs a decent USB stick, and few people buy themselves a good one. The Ultra Flair has a slim metal casing that survives life on a keyring, USB 3.0 transfers of up to 150MB/s, and SanDisk’s SecureAccess software for password-protecting private files, plus a year of RescuePRO for recovering deleted ones. It suits homework, CVs, photo backups and moving files between home and work. It isn’t an exciting present, but it is one that will still be in use next Christmas.
Pros
- Slim metal casing that survives a keyring
- USB 3.0 transfers of up to 150MB/s (SanDisk figure)
- SecureAccess password protection, plus a year of RescuePRO
Cons
- Standard USB-A plug, so USB-C-only laptops and recent MacBooks need an adaptor
- Practical rather than fun, so it suits a team that agreed on useful gifts

SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I Card 128GB with SD Adapter – Up to 195MB/s Read, A1, Full HD
Best for: Android phones and tablets, cameras, and the original Nintendo Switch
Amazon.ie price as of 26 Oct 2026, 06:46. May have changed.
If someone keeps complaining that their phone, tablet or camera is out of space, a 128GB SanDisk Ultra card is a cheap, genuinely useful fix. It is A1-rated, so apps installed to the card open more quickly, and it records Full HD video. An SD adapter in the box means it also works in cameras and laptops. Check the device before you buy: iPhones have no card slot, nor do Google Pixels or recent Samsung Galaxy S phones, and the Nintendo Switch 2 needs a microSD Express card for games, so this is the wrong card for one.
Pros
- Adds 128GB to anything with a microSD slot
- A1-rated for apps, and records Full HD video
- SD adapter included for cameras and laptops
Cons
- No use in an iPhone, or in phones without a microSD slot
- Not suitable for Nintendo Switch 2 game storage, which needs microSD Express
Also around this budget, for the colleague who works from home: a plug-and-play USB headset that makes Teams and Zoom calls clearer, and a basic 720p webcam for a desktop PC. They are practical rather than fun, so they suit a work Kris Kindle with a "useful gifts" rule, or a family draw where a grandparent wants to do video calls. Our home office tech guide covers the bigger upgrades.

Kris Kindle gifts under €50
A €50 limit usually means a family Kris Kindle or a close group of friends. This is where branded tech starts to fit, and where one good gift beats a bag of small ones. A few of these sit close to the €50 line, so check the price on the product card and on Amazon.ie before you commit.

JBL Go 5 Ultra-Portable Bluetooth Speaker – IP68 Waterproof, Auracast, Ambient Lighting (Black)
Best for: Teenagers, colleagues you don’t know well, anyone who listens in the kitchen or shower
Amazon.ie price as of 26 Oct 2026, 09:26. May have changed.
If you drew a name you barely know, a small speaker is hard to get wrong. The Go 5 is sized for a palm or a coat pocket, JBL quotes up to eight hours of play plus two more with Playtime Boost, and IP68 protection means a wet walk, the shower or a spilled drink won’t finish it off. Two Go 5s can be paired for stereo with AirTouch, and it links to other Auracast JBL speakers. It won’t fill a big room, and there is no USB cable in the box, though most people have a USB-C one already.
Pros
- Pocket-sized, with up to 8 hours of playtime plus 2 with Playtime Boost (JBL figures)
- IP68 waterproof and dustproof, with a drop-proof design
- Stereo pairing with a second Go 5, and Auracast linking
Cons
- Too small to fill a large room or a garden
- No USB cable included

Apple AirTag (2nd generation) – Item Tracker with Precision Finding & Louder Speaker (1-Pack)
Best for: iPhone owners, travellers, anyone forever patting their pockets at the door
Amazon.ie price as of 26 Oct 2026, 09:26. May have changed.
A small gift that earns its place the first time keys or a bag go missing. Apple says the second-generation AirTag has a 50% louder speaker, its upgraded Ultra Wideband and Bluetooth chips find items from further away, and Precision Finding now works on Apple Watch as well as iPhone. The battery lasts more than a year and is easy to swap. Only buy it if you are sure the person uses an iPhone, and budget for a keyring or holder, which is sold separately.
Pros
- Louder speaker and longer range than the first AirTag (Apple figures)
- Precision Finding on iPhone and Apple Watch
- User-replaceable battery that lasts more than a year
Cons
- Needs an iPhone or iPad, so it is no use to Android users
- A keyring or holder costs extra

Sony WH-CH520 Wireless On-Ear Headphones – Up to 50 Hours Battery with Quick Charge (Black)
Best for: Teenagers, students, a spare pair for the office or gym bag
Amazon.ie price as of 26 Oct 2026, 06:46. May have changed.
Dependable Bluetooth headphones from a big name, inside a Kris Kindle budget. Sony quotes up to 50 hours of battery, and a three-minute quick charge gives about an hour and a half of listening when you are halfway out the door. Multipoint keeps them connected to a phone and a laptop together, and the Headphones Connect app adds an EQ. They are on-ear rather than over-ear and have no noise cancelling, so they won’t shut out a noisy bus. See our headphones guide for noise-cancelling options.
Pros
- Up to 50 hours of battery, with a quick charge (Sony figures)
- Multipoint for a phone and a laptop at once
- Adjustable EQ in the Sony app
Cons
- No noise cancelling
- On-ear cushions can feel tight on long sessions for some people

Sony WF-C510 Truly Wireless Earbuds – Multipoint, Ambient Sound, IPX4, 22-Hour Battery (Black)
Best for: Walkers, parkrunners, gym-goers and anyone who wants small, light buds
Sony’s small, light everyday earbuds weigh 4.6g each, so they sit comfortably on long walks and runs. Battery life is quoted at 11 hours from the buds plus another 11 from the case, and five minutes of charging gives about an hour. Ambient Sound lets traffic noise in on a dark road, multipoint switches between a phone and a laptop, and IPX4 means rain and sweat aren’t a worry. There is no active noise cancelling. Our wireless earbuds guide covers the step-up models.
Pros
- Very light at 4.6g per earbud (Sony figure)
- 22 hours in total with the case, and a quick charge
- Ambient Sound mode and IPX4 water resistance
Cons
- No active noise cancelling for loud commutes
- Small buds don’t suit every ear, so a gift receipt is worth asking for

Philips OneBlade 360 Face & Body Trimmer & Shaver – 3 Blades, 4 Stubble Combs (QP2834/31)
Best for: Family and close friends with stubble or a short beard
Amazon.ie price as of 26 Oct 2026, 10:49. May have changed.
A grooming gift that gets used every week. The flexible 360 blade trims, edges and shaves, four click-on stubble combs (1, 2, 3 and 5mm) keep a beard even, and a body kit is included. Three blades come in the box, and Philips rates each at up to four months, so that should cover about a year of regular use. It charges from a USB-A cable with no plug adaptor in the box. Keep it for a family or friends draw: in an office Kris Kindle, grooming gifts can read as a hint. More options are in our beard trimmers and shavers guide.
Pros
- One blade trims, edges and shaves
- Three blades in the box, about a year of use (Philips rating)
- Four stubble combs plus a body kit
Cons
- No plug adaptor included, so it charges from a USB phone charger
- Not a gift for a colleague you don’t know well

YETI Rambler 36 oz (1065 ml) Vacuum Insulated Stainless Steel Bottle with Chug Cap
Best for: Hillwalkers, sideline parents and long site shifts
An insulated bottle that gets used every day by people who spend time outdoors. Double-wall vacuum insulation keeps water cold or tea hot for hours, the 18/8 stainless steel shrugs off knocks, and the Chug Cap allows one-handed drinking without splashing. It is dishwasher-safe. At 1065ml it is big, and heavy when full, so it suits a rucksack or a van more than a handbag. Its price moves around the €50 line, and at full price it goes over a €50 limit, so only pick it when the price on the day fits. More outdoor and training ideas are in Sports & Fitness.
Pros
- Double-wall vacuum insulation for cold or hot drinks
- Tough 18/8 stainless steel
- Dishwasher-safe, with a spill-resistant Chug Cap
Cons
- Large and heavy when full
- Too wide for many car cup holders
- Goes over a €50 limit when it isn’t reduced

When to order so it arrives before the office party
Most office parties and Kris Kindle swaps fall in the first three weeks of December, which is also when couriers are at their busiest. Work back from the date of the swap, not from Christmas Day.
- Draw names by late November. That leaves time to order during Black Friday week (Black Friday is 27 November 2026) if you want to catch a sale price. Our Black Friday 2026 guide explains how to tell a genuine reduction from a dressed-up one.
- Order at least a week before the swap. Prime includes One-Day delivery on eligible items in many areas, but December volumes, rural addresses and the islands can add days. A week’s buffer covers a late parcel or a replacement. If you are weighing up Prime just for December, see is Prime worth it in Ireland.
- Have it delivered to your home, not the office. A parcel with your name on it at reception tends to give the game away, and some workplaces don’t accept personal deliveries.
- Check the seller line. "Dispatches from Amazon" and "Sold by Amazon.ie" mean Amazon’s own stock, shipped from within the EU with no import charges. A marketplace seller shipping from the UK or further afield can take longer, and a parcel held by An Post for customs charges won’t make a Friday party. Our customs charges guide explains why, and how to find Amazon.ie stock shows how to filter for it.
- Leave an evening to wrap it. Choose a gift receipt at checkout where it is offered, take the price label off, and write only the recipient’s name on the tag.
Swaps and returns. For most goods bought online you have a 14-day cooling-off period that starts when the item is delivered, so a gift bought in late November may be outside it by the time the recipient opens it. Amazon’s own returns window is usually longer, and it has been extended over the holidays in previous years, but check the return-by date in Your Orders rather than assuming. Our Amazon.ie returns guide covers how it works.
Quick ideas by the name you drew
- A colleague you barely know: the JBL Go 5 or a card game like Dobble. Neutral, useful and nothing personal.
- Your manager: stick to the agreed limit exactly. A KeepCup, a travel mug or a good card game looks thoughtful without looking like you are trying too hard.
- The office tech person: a fast USB stick or a USB-C charger, or something that has nothing to do with screens. See our power banks and chargers guide.
- A teenager in a family draw: the Sony WH-CH520 or the JBL Go 5. For younger children, our kids’ gifts by age guide is the better starting point.
- The outdoorsy one: the YETI Rambler, a rechargeable hand warmer or a Thermos food flask. Our fitness trackers guide suits a bigger budget.
- The gamer: at Kris Kindle prices, accessories beat games unless you know the console and what they already own. Carry cases, screen protectors and controller charging stations often fit under €20, but check which console the case or protector is made for. See our Switch 2 accessories and PS5 accessories guides, or the whole Gaming section.
- Someone who has everything: an AirTag if they use an iPhone, a good hot water bottle, or something they will use up, like Instax film for a camera they already own.
- A parent or grandparent: a webcam for video calls, a jigsaw or a neck reading light. For cold evenings, see our winter home essentials and electric blankets guides.
